When you go to the doctor and get your labs drawn, have you ever felt overwhelmed by all the abbreviations and numbers? Especially when you see a L or H next to them? Doctors are very busy helping everyone, and they may not have time to review what these labs mean after stating what is high and what is low. As a registered dietitian, I have not only spent years learning these labs values, what they mean, and how they affect you, but also have experience in how to make dietary changes in improving these numbers to improve your overall health. Example of lab values - Hemoglobin/Hematocrit - Platelets - Complete Metabolic Panel (CMP) Electrolytes - Glucose/A1c - Kidney function - Liver function - Lipid Panel which includes Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL, LDL - Protein and Calcium - Vitamins In a 1:1 60-minute session, I will; - Provide a detailed review what the labs that were obtained mean. - Open discussion on what aspects of nutrition intake relate to which lab sections. - Personalize the lab review with detailing what the values say about your body and organs. - Provide an education on what your lab values say about your current nutritional intake. - Provide guidance on dietary changes that can be done to improve the numerical values.
